Wellington, the windy city is also the capital of NZ and capital for full on parties, with its stunning harbour and surrounding hills all major roads lead to Wellington.
It is the easiest of the NZ cities to explore by foot, meaning at night you can normally walk back to your hotel half sozzled. You can walk from one end to the other in under half and hour, stop off and enjoy a beer, with over 300 cafes and restaurants available going hungry will not be a problem on this trip.
See the famous cake tin home of the super 14 franchise the Hurricanes or simply organise a busy afternoon with lots of activities. There is something to suit everyone budget, see the list below.
The nightlife is incredible with four key areas to visit in down town Wellington Courtenay, Cuba, Lambton and the waterfront, plenty of bars and night and strip clubs to find some action. Whether its a stag or hen we can organise accommodation within a short walk or taxi ride home not far to stumble.
The higher the budget the less people will take you up on your amazing invite, so try and find a happy medium to keep the numbers up and the stag happy.
Get the stag perspective as he will know everyone, it’s his stag do after all.
Location, Location, Location
Do your research, don’t pick Benidorm if your group is looking for an up market stag do or North Wales if the group is full of party animals. These are extreme and obvious examples but you get the idea.
If the father, uncle and grandad are on the guest list then pick a location which will cater for all ages and hotels which can accommodate single rooms, let’s face it grandad probably won’t want to share with some young whippersnapper who is so excited, sleep is the last thing on their minds.
A weekend with structure will keep everyone interested and together, although you will make your own entertainment most of the time, it is important to organise plenty to do day and night to keep everyone on-board.
I know it’s obvious but the amount of stag dos that suffer from poor communication from the start is way too high! We are living in the age of telephoning, texting, emailing, Facebook, Twitter, Skype; our communication devices and platforms are everywhere so use them.
Choose the right date, advise everyone of this before booking up as it can cause a lot of hassle changing dates later, especially with big stag groups.
Include the stag in the numbers, the amount of Best-Men not counting the stag when booking in numbers is laughably high, so check and recheck.
Make sure you cater for all special needs / requirements, don’t book white water rafting if most of the guys can’t swim.
Keep everyone updated with as much information as possible with said platforms and devices, so the group don’t turn up in high heels at the indoor karting arena.
Try to be accommodating, if someone can’t make the first night due to work commitments see if there is a way of letting him join the stag do the next day and give him a meeting point and time.
Don’t book Golf if half the group don’t play, as non players will drop out like flies, unless the stag insists!
