Bridal showers are usually planned by the bridal party for the bride. The shower is normally pretty informal but there are some general etiquette and protocol rules that need to be followed. The first etiquette stumbling block for some planners is figuring out who to invite. It is important to remember that even though the shower is a celebration for the bride and her family and friends it is important not to forget the grooms Mom, and sisters.

Some bridal showers have themed gifts, in which case the gift should fit in with the theme. The tone is usually set by the bridal party or whoever plans the shower. Popular themes include gifts for the honeymoon, gifts centered on the couple’s hobbies, and gifts for a room of the house. For a honeymoon theme all of the gifts should be things the bride or couple can use on their honeymoon. If you choose a room of the house theme then different guests are assigned a room of the house to buy a gift for. If the couple has a hobby that they both enjoy like for instance skiing, all of the gifts could center on their hobby.

A few months before the wedding, it is traditional for the bridal party to throw a shower to celebrate the wedding. A bridal shower is different than a bachelorette party. Typically a bridal shower is attended by the bridal party, close friends of the bride and immediate female family members of the bride and the groom.
